Pray

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.’  1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NIV)

As Christians we believe that it is vital that we underpin all that we do and say with prayer, so we hope that these prayer points will be helpful over the period of the 2017 Elections

General Prayer Points

  • Pray for Northern Irish society as whole; for peace and dialogue to underpin the election process and the season that follows.
  • Ask that God would provide a government which would seek the prosperity, safety and dignity of all in Northern Ireland.
  • Pray for all candidates who are running in the election; that they would enjoy a campaign ran with wisdom and oversight.
  • Intercede for those candidates who are Christians, ask that they may be a witness to the love and truth that is found in God.
  • Pray for God’s intervention in those issues which concern you the most, whether they be matters of life, reconciliation, family or justice; for his will to be done and for his kingdom to come.
  • Pray for the Church in Northern Ireland; that we would model out true grace, faithfulness and unconditional love for all in society.

Prayer After the Election

  • Pray for every new MLA as they take in the implications of being elected to represent their constituents; that they would realise their need of God’s guidance and strength.
